If we consider that with gratitude and a happy disposition we can generate even more positivity for ourselves and others it makes sense for us to ensure our response to the "How are you?" greeting isn't just automatic. With a little pre-thought we could respond in a more positive and upbeat way. Responses could include;
- I'm good. Thanks for asking.
- On top of the world! How are you?
- I am exhausted because I had such an amazing weekend
- I'm really busy but excited by the project I'm working on
There will be times when you don't feel excited, healthy or motivated. On these times you could tell the other person the truth of how you are feeling and since this is an out of the ordinary response you'll more likely receive a listening ear and perhaps even an offer to help with your issue.
This is of course, a habit and therefore, it will take time to put it into practice. It's simply about taking the time to be self aware and to show gratitude for the good in our lives.
