I stayed at this hotel when it was a relatively new hotel, thirty-four years ago. At that time I was overwhelmed by my first overseas trip, the enormity of a year away from family and friends and my missing luggage and that influenced my failure to truly appreciate the beauty of the hotel. My time was limited and so I was unable to explore the city centre; Makati. I want to replay that night from so long ago with the experience of years. To a degree, I think I am even seeking the spirit of me as a happy, carefree teenager.
it's been a crazy few weeks with Christmas, New Year, job transitions, travel doctor, other personal and business matters. I need some down time to help execute this transition in my life. I crave peace and quiet to help me move from one role to another as seamlessly as possible.
3. Present moment
I'm looking forward to stopping the 'merry-go-round,' if only for two days. It's my chance to sit in stillness and savour the present moment, to re-ground myself.
These days we have a greater emphasis on self-love. I know that love of self is an area that requires my greater attention. This indulgence of two days in an expensive hotel is a self given gift of love.
The booking is made but the mind is still reflecting.....
I am asking myself ; Do I need a 5 star hotel......
- to create nostalgia? Could a visit to the lobby for a refreshing drink and a walk around the area suffice?
- to provide peace and quiet? Can simplicity be established in a venue other than a 5 star hotel?
- to sit in the present moment? Researchers have been telling us that the present moment is there for us right here and now. There is no time like the present to think about what I am doing right now, in this place. Do I ned a hotel to provide this moment or is the moment already within ready to be felt and experienced?
- as an experience of self-love? Shouldn't self-love be experienced in the everyday routines like sleep, healthful eating, exercise, gentle and encouraging self-talk?
This is all food for thought. No doubt I will love this hotel but I wonder if it will really be the best way to achieve my goals. Stay tuned!
