A glimpse into my experiences in Gawad Kalinga communities
The tricycle fits two in the passenger cab at a squeeze, (probably 3 Filipinos, given the size of my rump) and I believe a whole family can travel on the bike, with any cargo tied to the roof for good measure.
I’d love to tell you about the route we took from our village to another, but for the most part I had my eyes tightly closed! This was not squeezed tight due to fear, just closed as a measure to avoid the dirt and grit flying into the air. It was definitely an occasion for the sunnies!
Riding a tricycle could be likened to a thrill ride at Disney; lots of bumps, swerves and jolts, much manouvering around other vehicles and even the occasional splash of water.
It's more fun in the Philippines!
